How to search for a job if you are planning to move abroad - Part 2

In the first part of this series, we discussed the various sources you could use to find a job overseas and how you could increase your chances of doing the same. In the second part of this series, we will discuss about ‘make or break’ factors that could get you a job overseas. Just like the experience, accreditation, USPs of overseas movers and packers, etc. could help you determine if the service provider would deliver professional international relocation services or not, the following factors may help interviewers decide if you are the right fit for their company or not.

1. Polish your skills for interviews over an audio or video call

If you secure an interview before you move, you would most likely be giving an interview over the phone or on a video call. Both of these are impersonal scenarios and it is unlikely that you would have much experience with such types of interviews. It is thus essential that you brush up on your interview skills specific to them. You don’t want to look or sound awkward during the interview, do you?

2. Sharpen your key skillset

Irrespective of which profession you belong to, your key skills are arguably the most important factors that could get you a job. It is therefore reasonable for you to spend some time brushing up on and sharpening your key skills. It is an absolute non-negotiable for you. Even established international packers and movers constantly work on upgrading their skill set. So there is no reason why you should not tread on the same path.

3. Fill a need

Your prospects of finding a job would rise up astronomically if you fulfill a need. For example, there is always a high demand for English teachers in China, Eastern Europe, and Middle Eastern countries. Even if you don’t have experience doing this job, you’d most likely be hired if you are good enough to do it. Necessity is a major creator of jobs. Just think about why you would hire professional international relocation companies in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru or whatever city you are currently based out of. You hire them because you need their services and their expertise, isn’t it? Simple as that!

4. Describe your work experience

Experience is one major criterion that recruiters look for while interviewing a candidate. Knowing that the candidate has been there, done that reassures them about the candidate’s utility in the organisation. So never shy away from describing your work experience in an interview. Inform the interviewer about the roles you have performed, the tricky situations you have dealt with, and all that you have achieved at your previous job. Again, to draw an analogy, if you have the option of choosing between 2 international relocation companies, one of whom hasn’t spoken about their experience in the field, and the other has spoken about and given evidence of their past jobs, who would you choose?

These 4 tips would provide a major fillip to your chances of landing a job overseas. In the third and last part of this series, we will discuss some other factors that will help you do the same. In the meanwhile, if you are considering moving abroad and have any questions about the same, feel free to contact Writer Relocations, one of the foremost international movers and packers in India.
