What to pack first when moving- Part 1

We know when you’re moving the one thing you are overwhelmed by is starting the packing process. Most things after that are obviously handled by your professional movers and packers. Packing a whole house up and shifting is a herculean task. So we’re here to help you start the process by listing all the things you should do first in the packing process.

The right time to start packing is as soon as possible. Start it after you are halfway through the paperwork process and have already booked residential moving services for the date of relocation. Before we figure out what to pack first, here are some things you should get done before starting the packing.

Pre-packing

It is natural to have accumulated things over the years of living in the same house and not knowing about them. This is why you have to start noting down all the kinds of items you have in each of your rooms. This list can be your inventory list pre-packing and will also help you check if you have packed all the items when the packing comes near to the end.

Filter the items you want to move with and the items you want to leave behind. After that is done, take all your rejected things and bifurcate them into donating, throw and sell. This takes a lot of time usually so try and be very decisive to speed it up. This move makes moving more convenient for you and one of the local moving companies you have hired. When you dispose of the stuff you don't need, you move fewer things, the long distance moving quotes from the employee relocation companies will go down. After this is done, you are all ready to start packing

What rooms to start sorting and packing first?

Following a room, the wise routine is a great way to lessen the stress of packing. It is also very quick and efficient to do this if you’re starting the packing a little later than expected. Firstly you should start with rooms that are the least used in the house. Additionally, start with rooms that are the hardest to pack.

Garage, attic, and basement: You should clean out the garage, basement, and attic first. These happen to be the rooms that need more work in cleaning, sorting and packing while also being rooms that are not used daily by the family members.

Garage: Start sorting out the garage and all the car-related stuff in it. People also keep power tools and garden tools in their garage. There may be hazardous items here.

Basement and attic: The basement and attic are two places that are solely meant for storage purposes. So the sorting and packing here will take a lot of your time because of the sheer size of the storage.

Closet: All the closets in your house should be sorted and cleaned after the basement and attic. Closets are deep storage spaces that are only less hard than the basement to sort out. This includes the walk-in kinds too. All kinds of clothes, shoes and sports equipment can be found in your closets that need to be sorted and packed for the most part. Pack up all the clothes and shoes you rarely wear and the expensive ones you reserve for special occasions. Starting this early will save a lot of your time later.

This was only the beginning of the list of rooms you should pack from the first to the last with assistance from your professional residential and office movers and packers. Stay tuned for the second part.
