What to pack first when moving- Part 2

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

In the first part, we discussed things you should be doing before starting packing and the rooms you should begin your packing with. These quick ideas are a good way to minimize time and effort and still get packing done on time for the arrival of the moving team provided by your household shifting services. As we now know, the first rooms to be sorted and packed should be storage areas like garage, basement, attic, and closet. The next rooms on the list are:

Spare rooms: These rooms are fairly unused in a house. A guest room is only used when a guest has arrived and stays closed most of the day. While packing, deal with such rooms first. This shouldn't be too much work as spare rooms are not too furnished. This should only take about half a day.

Kitchen: We suggest that you start early with this one and come back to it when you can. Kitchens have a lot of utensils and glassware. And cleaning and packing will take a lot of time. Now we know you may ask how you can pack glassware and precious china to ensure it doesn’t break while moving. You don’t need to worry about that. Your global moving services are well equipped with packing boxes designed specifically for that purpose. The best moving companies like Writer Relocations usually use quality packing equipment. Decide if you want to move your kitchen electric appliances to your new home while you’re packing up all the utensils.

Living room: pack up all your trophies and flower vases in the living room. It is pretty easy to pack up the living room and practically speaking, it doesn't even have articles as important as those in the kitchen or the bathroom. Don't go to the living room last because your TV and sofa and glass cabinets need special packing effort along with equipment and boxes that the furniture moving services will use. There will be a lot of heavy lifting and it is best to do it early on.

Kids’ room and bedroom: Ask your kids to start cleaning and packing their books and clothes while you are handling the packing of your kitchen and living room. If your kids aren’t old enough to pack for themselves, you will have to do it yourself. Don't underestimate the effort you will have to put in. your own bedroom may even need less time. You should pack up the bedrooms last because you sleep there. It will take a considerable time to get through it so be ready for that.

Bathroom: Pack your toiletries on the very last day because you need your bathroom every day of the moving process. It is also fairly easy to pack up your bathroom. You only have to take the toiletries, the medicine box, and some cleaning gear.

Packing room wise is a great idea to keep the moving process systematic. Hope this guide helped you plan your move better. Thanks for reading!
